The program occupies part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UGM buildings with a total floor plan of 6000 m2. The research is performed at the Physical, Analytical, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry Laboratories with additional teaching laboratory of Basic Chemistry. It is also home to the Austrian-Indonesian Centre for Computational Chemistry (AIC). An array of international standards of research equipment such as AAS, UV-Vis, DTA-TGA, Electrophoresis, Potentiometer, Calorimeter, GC-MS, HPLC, H-NMR, IR, UV-VIS, TLC Scanner, etc. are available. In January 2010, it acquired a new Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), a major equipment to support nanoscience and nanotechnology. There are also many research facilities available in the university-wide research laboratories.  A 500-MHz of H-NMR is also available at the university research center (LPPT).

The Chemistry Department has its own library with internet-accesses. Thousands of books are available in the library of Chem-UGM. More than 30 subscribe-based of International Chemistry Journals are also available. The library is also supported with 20 computers and 1 computer to search collected literatures. Geographic location of Chem-UGM, which is very near to the main library of Graduate School of Gadjah Mada University, makes the information access to be easier. In addition the Chem-UGM provides access internet for the students Austrian-Indonesian Centre for Computational Chemistry (AIC) and Student Internet Centre (SIC). Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) which works at enough bandwidth gives a guarantee for easier global information access.
