The Graduate School of Chem-UGM for Master Program was opened in the year of 1981, validated by The Decree of General Directorate of Dikti of The Department of Education and Culture of Republic Indonesia No. 153/DIKTI/Kep/2007, dated in September 21st, 2007. The Graduate School of Chem-UGM has five fields of concentration as follows; Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Environmental Chemistry. Each of the field has an academic chair.

Admission

Students shall have finished their bachelor degree as the main requirement for entering the graduate program. For student who graduated with GPA of 2.7 or above and has holding their bachelor diploma no more than eight years is possible to be accepted to enroll directly to the graduate program without any additional requirements. If necessary, a student can be requested to undertake the deficiency program by taking some courses for bachelor degree. Students may apply scholarships from BPPS (Department of National Education) or from other national/private institutions for supporting their study at the Graduate School of Chem-UGM.

Curriculum

Curriculum is constructed by accommodating vision, mission, target, and purpose of Chem-UGM. Master of Chemistry should finish at minimum 42 credits including thesis, with a minimum GPA of 2.75. Subjects for Master degree in Chemistry are consisting of:

  • Mandatory subjects (20 credits)
  • Special subjects (elective)

The M.Sc. curriculum is prepared based on study period of 4 semesters. Academic year of the first semester is started in the beginning of September and will be finished by the end of January of the next year. The second semester is started in the beginning of February and will be finished by the end of June in the same year.
