If students wish to take advanced study, the Department of Chemistry UGM has offered Chemistry Master Program since 1981, as it was validated by The Decree of Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI) of The Department of Education and Culture of Republic Indonesia No. 153/DIKTI/Kep/2007, dated on September 21st, 2007. The Graduate School of Chem-UGM has five fields of concentration as follows; Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Environmental Chemistry. Each of the fields has an academic chair.
Students shall have finished their bachelor degree as the main requirement for entering the graduate program. For the student who graduated with GPA of 2.75 or above and has held their bachelor diploma no more than eight years is possible to be accepted to enroll directly in the graduate program without any additional requirements. If necessary, a student can be requested to undertake the deficiency program by taking some courses for the bachelor degree.
